CANDLES
WHY COCONUT APRICOT WAX?
The short answer: It is the ideal, natural wax for the perfect clean burn.
It is a natural, vegan, and non-toxic wax which allows for a clean burn. It is phthalate-free, paraben-free, and contains a minute trace of food-grade,
natural paraffin to enhance the performance and throw of the wax. It is a sustainable, biodegradable, and renewable resource made in the USA. This makes coconut apricot wax a better alternative to paraffin, soy blends, palm, and beeswaxes.
Coconut apricot wax also delivers an even, slow burn with great hot and cold fragrance throws. This perfect blend of coconut and apricot is luxurious with a creamy white hue and contains antioxidant properties that prevent discoloration during use. This makes coconut-apricot a better alternative to soy wax. (Please note we use 100% soy wax for our wax melts as they are perfect for a strong throw and flame-free, clean burn).
WHY WOOD WICKS?
The short answer: They are the ideal companion for coconut apricot wax.
Wood wicks are lead-free, easy to work with, do not mushroom, and contribute to a clean burn with very little debris and soot. They create the perfect burn pool with coconut apricot wax and helps boost its hot fragrance throw.
Wood wicks are visually pleasing and appeal to both the minimalist and maximalist aesthetics. When lit, they emit a soothing, crackling sound and thereby create the perfect firelit ambiance.
At A Pleasant Thought, we use patented wood wicks (pat.www.lumetique.cm/patents) made from native, sappy fruit trees sourced from FSC certified mills. They are sourced and made in the USA.

WHY SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCE OILS?
The short answer: They are non-toxic, sustainable, and more consistent.
While we use essential oils in products that serve to be therapeutic, much of our home fragrance, bath, and body products are created using a combination of skin-safe, synthetic and natural fragrance oils. This allows us to create products with a more consistent fragrance profile—something we cannot assure with natural fragrances alone as they are inconsistent by nature.
Further, synthetic fragrances are a better alternative to naturally extracted fragrances which have been proven to be harmful to the environment. For instance, extracting scents from trees have
contributed to deforestation around the world. Similarly, extracting scents such as musk from animals is a cruel and painful process. As we are committed to creating cruelty-free, vegan, and sustainable products, using non-toxic, synthetic fragrances was a practical and pleasant solution.
BATH AND BODY
WHY NATURAL BUTTERS, OILS, AND EXTRACTS?
The short answer: They are non-toxic and better for your skin.
They are non-toxic and better for your skin. It’s as simple as that. A Pleasant Thought uses only the highest quality, sustainably sourced natural oils and butters for our bath and body products. These oils and butters form the base and are the primary ingredients of our products as they contain the most benefits and nutrients for your skin. They are 100% natural, non-toxic, and free of parabens, phthalates, and sulfates. They are a healthier alternative to the toxic, harmful, and often unpronounceable chemicals found in many current skincare products.

The three main butters we use are cupuacu, shea, and cocoa. While all three butters are intensely moisturizing, hydrating, and replenishing to the skin, each butter has its own unique benefits and properties of emulsion with other ingredients.
-Cupuacu Butter (derived from native Brazilian cupuacu seeds) is effective at boosting collagen production, skin elasticity, and replenishing skin back to its natural soft texture.
-Cocoa Butter (derived from cocoa beans) has anti-aging properties and is effective in preventing dry skin and the appearance of fine lines. It is the perfect ingredient for sensitive skin.
-Shea Butter (derived from Karite nuts) is an intensely nourishing skin conditioner. It is considered a skin superfood.
The four main oils we use are olive, coconut, jojoba, and sweet almond. In conjunction with natural butters, these oils not only promote intense moisturization and conditioning of the skin, but they also penetrate nutrition into the skin and hair.
-Olive Oil is anti-inflammatory and contains high levels of antioxidants and squalene. It helps retain moisture and replenishes aging and sun-damaged skin. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals—oxidized atoms that prematurely age your skin and damage cells and tissue.
-Sweet Almond oil contains high levels of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and Vitamins A, B, and E. It soothes and smooths dry skin, aids in relieving skin conditions such eczema and psoriasis, and helps brighten and even out the skin.
-Coconut Oil is rich in fatty acids that are antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral. It is also anti inflammatory and contains antioxidants. Overall, an essential oil for skin health.
-Jojoba Oil is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants, and thus promotes skin regeneration and collagen production. It is also hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic, so it blends in with the natural biology of the skin rather than irritate it.

The key natural extract we use is Orchid Extract. Orchid is rich in calcium, magnesium, and zinc as well as natural polysaccharides, antioxidant phenols, and minerals. It boosts the skin’s immunity, reduces fine lines and signs of aging, and soothes, rejuvenates, and moisturizes for soft, supple, and smooth skin.

WHY NATURAL PERSERVATIVES?
The short answer: So your products can last longer.
So your products can stay fresh and effective, longer. Bath and body products that contain water or may come in contact with water require some form of broad-spectrum antimicrobial preservation.
At A Pleasant Thought, we only use the natural preservative, Germall PLUS Liquid, to ensure our products remain plant-based and eco-friendly. It is a patented natural preservative, paraben-free, and free of chemical inactivators.

WHY GLASS CONTAINERS?
The short answer: They’re plastic free!
They’re reusable, plastic-free, and look great! At A Pleasant Thought, we are dedicated to sustainable and eco-friendly packaging. In this way, our bath and body (and home fragrance) products are all packaged in glass containers. Glass vessels are also lead-free and BPA-free. They carry personal care materials well and are aesthetically pleasing. Please note some components are not completely plastic-free (yet).
We encourage our customers to recycle, refill, or upcycle their glass containers once the product is finished. Some wonderful ways to use them include: small plant pot, pencil/paint brush holder, makeup brush holder, trinket holder, refilled with another product (e.g. hand soap, bath salts, safety matches), store paints, and much more.

WHY POLYMER CLAY?
The short answer: It is a durable, versatile, and ultra lightweight medium.
It is a versatile medium that allows us to design and create intricate pieces. It is also highly durable and extremely lightweight, so your ears don’t feel weighed down!
We use premium, high quality polymer clay for our pieces to ensure our pieces are not brittle or easily broken. We custom blend, bake, sand, polish, and cure our clay to ensure each individual is piece is unique and wearable—they are wearable art!

WHY 14K GOLD-FILLED?
The short answer: It’s the best bang for your buck!
It’s one of the highest quality gold products (the best being solid gold) you can get on the market. 14k gold-filled jewelry contains 5% of solid gold (by weight) whereby a thick layer of gold is mechanically bonded to a base metal (usually copper or brass). It contains 100x more gold than just gold-plated jewelry. The final product is a piece of jewelry you will be able to enjoy for years to come.
Gold-filled jewelry will not tarnish so you can wear them everyday. They are hypoallergenic so perfect for sensitive skin. Nickel-free. Lead-free. Our gold-filled chains and findings are manufactured in the USA and Italy. They are sustainably sourced via marketplace.
Please note most of our pendants are 14k gold-plated brass. Although not as tarnish resistant as gold-filled, they are high-quality, hypoallergenic, nickel-free, and lead-free. They will not affect the integrity of our gold-filled pieces. We curated these pieces based on quality and design. Made in South Korea and Turkey. Sustainably sourced via marketplace.
WHY FRESHWATER PEARLS?
The short answer: They’re whimsical and add the perfect touch to our pieces.
They’re whimsical, elegant, classic, and add the right amount of dangle and charm to our pieces. Each pearl (derived from cultured freshwater mussels) is a natural gemstone and has its own unique shape and luster.
Cultured freshwater pearls are harvested from mussels that are bred on sustainable* pearl farms. Freshwater pearl farming is currently exclusive to China. Our pearls are sourced via marketplace.
Besides freshwater pearls, we also use natural, 100% genuine gemstones, in our pieces. These gemstones are selectively sourced for their merit, exquisite beauty, and claims of sustainability*. The perfect addition to each unique pair of earrings!
*Disclaimer: When is comes to sustainable jewelry, there is no short answer. The merits on the claimed sustainable practices of many jewelry suppliers (e.g. pearl farms) are still up for debate as “sustainable jewelry” is not currently mandated. We cannot comment towards the validity of any claims, however we are still in the process of doing our research so we can ensure we are always making sustainable and eco-friendly choices for our products.

WHY 100% COTTON?
The short answer: It is breathable and durable.
It is soft, durable, hypoallergenic, machine washable, breathable, and weatherproof. This means your product lasts longer between more washes, it won’t get ruined in the rain, and it’s great for sensitive skin. Its breathable feature ensures you’re getting the most of your essential oils-infused eye pillow.
At A Pleasant Thought, we primarily source designer cotton fabrics. Our current scrunchie collection mainly feature fabric from Liberty of London (made in England) and Rifle Paper Co. (made in USA) for their specially engineered cotton and exquisite, traditional screen-printed designs.

WHY SATIN?
The short answer: For your hair's health.
For the health benefits a satin weave has on your hair. Satin’s glossy and lustrous fabric ensures fewer tangles, hair loss, breakage, and damage. It also helps your hair retain its moisture without drying it out. It is lightweight and won’t leave kinks in your hair after removal.
Satin is made of 100% polyester and vegan. It is a cruelty-free alternative to silk (harvested via silkworms). Our satin fabrics are sustainably sourced from Canada and the USA.
